Trucksmith's Adam Barnett hold his acceptance to Exeter College letter whilst stood in an engineering workshop

Trucksmith are delighted to announce that the Design and Development department’s very own Adam Barnett is going back to school as he has been accepted onto the university grade course “HNC Mechanical Engineering” at Exeter College starting in September.  Adam’s studies will run alongside his work at Trucksmith.

Adam joined Trucksmith in August 2017, initially on a six month internship.

A Real Asset To The Trucksmith Family

“I really enjoyed my first six months with Trucksmith, engineering is a passion of mine and coupled with the supportive team atmosphere it ticked all the boxes of what I was looking for.”  Emma Trebble, Company Director continues, “Having such a motivated intern on the team was fantastic for the Design and Development department, so when Adam asked if he could defer his entry to university for another year and stay with us it was a no brainer, he’s a real asset to the Trucksmith family.”

A University Grade Course Delivered Through Exeter College

With his further education in mind the training team worked with Adam to find a way of combining his academic studies with a role a Trucksmith.  

“We looked at a couple of options, ones that would suit me and my career whilst also bringing something valuable to the business,” says Adam, “we decided on HNC Mechanical Engineering, it’s university grade course delivered through Exeter College and it covers things like Computer Aided Machining and Fluid Mechanics.”

The Sky’s The Limit

Adam’s Department Head, Allin Jeffery, is particularly pleased, “I’m delighted with his development to date and can only see skies as his limit.  It’s very generous of Trucksmith to fund Adam’s studies and shows a desire to build a successful future for the business.”
